Podcast Series: How You Really Doin'

I feel fortunate to have met Jim during a difficult time of his life. Like my Mom (before she passed away), Jim lives with MS. The disease can rear its ugly head in numerous ways: from stealing people's movement to instigating depression—even forcing them to retire from their jobs. That’s exactly what happened to Jim. Following a fulfilling career broadcasting in-game entertainment for the Colorado Rockies, Jim had to leave his passion behind. Despite his general good nature, I met Jim when he was traveling through a very rough patch. Maybe the universe knew it was time we connected. I approached him to consider launching and hosting a podcast about life with MS. In particular, I wanted him to talk about his challenges because I knew, if he led with his battles, it would give his interview guests permission to share their own. Jim jumped into the podcast with abandon. Through the process, he found his way back to his love of broadcasting, and learned how to manage the darker side of MS. Full of heart and humor, the podcast helps those who live with MS to know they're not alone.

PODCAST INTRO SCRIPT
MS sucks. I know. I’ve lived with it since 1998 and man, it’s been one helluva rollercoaster.
When people ask, “How are you doin’?”
I say “fine…great.”
Really?
Most of the time, it’s a lie. Because we’re programmed to hide our struggles.
I’m not a doctor or researcher—I’m just a normal guy talking from experience. And let me tell you, sharing these experiences with other people living with MS has made my life a hundred times better.
So get ready for a belly up to the bar, honest conversation with real people—who, at first, hesitate to tell the truth about life with MS—but eventually let it all hang out.
I’m your host, Jim Fairchild.
How you REALLY doin’?
Jim may live with multiple sclerosis, but he doesn't let the disease rule his life.
